LSRPA Sounding Board

Mission Statement

Our purpose is to provide New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professionals Association (LSRPA) members with a Sounding Board in regard to questions or concerns that do not have a clear-cut solution found in regulation or guidance. We will also offer peer-to-peer discussion with members that are approaching a new subject or territory that they are not familiar with. Our consultation will be based on our experiences in similar situations, generally delivered within a short time-frame, and will be verbal and non-binding. Our goal is to provide members with a benefit derived from multiple viewpoints that is not currently available to the LSRP community.

Introduction

Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) are a diverse community of practitioners who are operating in the same field; the LSRPA strives to provide educational seminars and other events for member practitioners for the benefit of members.

The Association is providing this Sounding Board to members to stimulate discussion among LSRPs. As an LSRP, you apply your own independent professional judgment in addition to your education, training and experience. Inter-LSRP dialog may reveal a range of interpretations from the same data, but you should be prepared to explain and justify your position, and to support your decisions, based on your findings and the information for the remediation.

This voluntary “peer-to-peer” forum, offered through members of the LSRPA to other members of the LSRPA, is not a replacement for education, training, experience, and/or professional judgment; it is to provide some context on what you have found and concluded - where you want a sounding board - but this forum is not intended to make a decision for you, or to provide solutions you have not considered.

The Sounding Board is designed to be an exchange of ideas on a concept or specific item, or an administrative or technical, scenario. Sounding Board responses should not be cited as a source or reference, or as a basis for decision-making; it is informal and not instructional. The consultation will not provide answers, and responses you receive are not considered to be authoritative – just that of another LSRP. The consultation will be confidential but members should not provide confidential information to the Sounding Board.

Boundaries and Limitations

The experience of our members has shown that on a regular basis, issues arise that do not have a clear-cut solution. The Sounding Board will handle questions from most areas of the LSRP universe. Sounding Board members will not comment on issues for which they are not qualified or not experienced in. Furthermore, we do not intend to review data or reports. Our responses will be based upon a collaborative effort from the Sounding Board members' comments. Internal discussions within the Sounding Board will be performed primarily via email. No written responses will be offered or provided to the member by the Sounding Board. Our responses will be consultative in nature and provide members with timely information that we hope they will find relevant and useful.

Induction Portal Process

LSRPA members will be directed to our webpage, in the form of an Induction Portal, and will be asked several questions. Answers collected in the Induction Portal will assist the committee in making GO-NO GO decisions in the event that a question falls outside our prescribed boundaries. At the discretion of the Sounding Board, sensitive inquiry issues such as IEC litigation cases, may be referred out of the Sounding Board for third party professional consultation.
