Course Description:
Construction dewatering can be a source of uncertainty when planning for soil excavation at a site remediation project. When excavating below the water table, it brings up many questions. How will we remove the groundwater? Is the groundwater contaminated? How to dispose of the groundwater? Does the groundwater need to be treated? What permits are required? This presentation will address those questions and help you plan for construction dewatering during your next “big dig”.
The goal of this interactive presentation is to provide you with:
- Insight into how construction dewatering impacts site remediation projects
- Options for managing contaminated groundwater
- Factors in selecting a groundwater disposal method
- NJ permitting requirements
- Contractor dewatering responsibilities
- Case studies
Immediately following the presentation and Q&A session, there will be an open forum roundtable discussion identifying critical issues or problems LSRPs feel directly impacts their work. Please come prepared to share during the roundtable. The session will be moderated by Michael Poland, PE, LSRP.
