Thursday, September 29, 2022, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

Date: September 29, 2022

Course Time: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Instructors: Joel Bernstein, President; Peter Miller, PhD, Senior Geophysicist; Glenn Brennan, PG, Staff Geophysicist; and TJ Huckin, Staff Geophysicist from SET
Moderator: Alex Saltzman, LSRP from ERM

Location: Subsurface Environmental Technologies (SET), 230 US Route 130 South, Bordentown, NJ 08505

Description:

Public “One Call” mark-out services do not always cover “privately owned utilities” at sites such as large industrial sites, gasoline retail stations, military bases, and private residences, and therefore there may be private or historic utilities on a property that go unmarked.

Private utility locating and pre-clearing prior to drilling or excavating is crucial in these situations to help ensure worker safety and prevent property damage.

During this in-person session, Subsurface Environmental Technologies (SET) will demonstrate the most commonly used geophysical and physical methods used for locating buried utility lines and subsurface anomalies, such as ground penetrating radar (GPR), radiofrequency detection (RF), and electromagnetic (EM) conductivity surveys, as will the combination “air knife/soft-dig” techniques. Soft drinks and pizza will be provided.
