Sustainable and Resilient Remediation using Advanced Molecular Diagnostics for Robust Conceptual Site Models

Course Description:

Environmental investigation and remediation of contaminated sites continuously progresses towards complexity given an ever-changing regulatory environment, additional contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), and the commonplace for multiple parties and stakeholder groups. The multiple lines of evidence used to support an argument are fundamental in nature and should corroborate work done to iteratively develop the Conceptual Site Model (CSM).

Advanced Molecular Diagnostics (AMD) are examples of current and next generation tools which provide a higher resolution detail of the biotic conditions at the Site which influence and conduct remediation at the micro-scale. AMD helps to illuminate site conditions and are fundamental to assist in the selection of sustainable and resilient approaches for the remediation of contaminated sites.

The goal of this interactive presentation is to provide attendees with:

• An Overview of Sustainable Remediation, Advanced Diagnostics and CSM
• The Overview and Evolution of Conceptual Site Models
• Examples of Advanced Molecular Diagnostics (AMD)
• The Definitions and Importance of Sustainable and Resilient Remediation
• A Case Study – Diagnosing the Problem with AMDs

Immediately following the presentation and Q&A session, there will be an open forum roundtable discussion identifying critical issues or problems LSRPs feel directly impacts their work. Please come prepared to share during the roundtable. The session will be moderated by Kenneth Haduch,  LSRP.
