Description:

The LSRPA’s Professional Ethics course has been designed to review both general and professional ethical fundamentals. It explores the Site Remediation Reform Act’s (SRRA) Code of Conduct and examines business practices versus the standard of care. The course format will include formal presentations on professional ethics topics, case studies and a panel discussion with various stakeholder viewpoints represented.

During this 3-hour course, the LSRP’s professional ethics statement to “protect public health and the environment,” will be discussed in detail as will relationships with employers, clients, and other professional colleagues. An in-depth review of the specific items in the LSRP Code of Conduct that have resulted in actions against practitioners will be discussed, and an updated case study will be the subject of group discussions. Course participants are also encouraged to contribute their own case histories for analysis. This course is intended for LSRPs, environmental professionals, and engineers in closely allied fields.

Since our inception in 1993, AST Environmental, Inc. (AST) has provided environmental remediation solutions that are both innovative and effective. In 2000, we began to focus our attention on the emerging in situ remediation market. Remarkably, we observed that some chemistries were being misapplied, inadequate designs were based on flawed site models, or remedies were selected that could not address both source and dissolved plume areas. To solve these common issues, AST teamed with Remediation Products, Inc. (RPI) to tackle our first Trap & Treat® project using BOS 200® technology and the Remedial Design Characterization (RDC) process. After this first project was granted a No Further Action (NFA) designation, many more success stories followed.

In 2011, RPI designated AST as the Expert Installer and Distributor of the Trap & Treat® product line, which today includes BOS 100® and CAT 100 for Chlorinated Volatile Organic Compounds (CVOCs) and BOS 200® for Petroleum Hydrocarbons. In the Expert Installer role, AST’s responsibilities include selecting and training RPI Group-authorized installers, developing injection methodologies and equipment for proper product installation, completing project evaluations and surgical injection designs, and distribution of RPI Group products worldwide. AST services a wide spectrum of client projects involving overburden, transition zone, and bedrock applications using in-house developed and custom-built equipment coupled with experienced managers and field crews to complete each project safely, efficiently, and with designs and products that outperform commonly available reagents and ideas.

Send us your toughest sites. We enjoy the challenge.
