Course Description:

This training class will focus on issues related to the remediation of PCBs. PCBs are chlorinated hydrocarbons manufactured between 1929 and 1979. They were used in hundreds of industrial/commercial applications including electrical, heat transfer, plasticizers, pigments, dyes, and carbonless copy paper. Even with discontinued use, PCBs are still present in the environment today. They do not readily degrade, bioaccumulate in the food chain, and are known to cause adverse health effects.

Regulations for remediating PCBs can be very confusing since there are both State and Federal requirements. This class will help LSRPs be more aware of NJDEP and USEPA requirements for PCB remediations and help them comply with NJDEP regulations under 7:26E, 7:26C, and 7:14B and Federal requirements outlined in the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
