LSRPA’s Aspiring Professionals (AP) Committee held a Drilling Techniques & Equipment event on October 1st at EnviroProbe’s northeast headquarters in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. With almost 30 in attendance, including several NJDEP staff, EnviroProbe’s General Manager, Doug Lindes, and President, Tim Gallagher, discussed and showcased several pre-drilling activities (radio detection utility location, ground penetrating radar, and soft dig) and numerous drilling methodologies (limited access and full direct push, solid and hollow stem auger, air and mud rotary, and sonic drilling). EnviroProbe’s veteran drilling team demonstrated utility location and soft dig, then advanced a direct push, auger, and sonic borings and allowed the attendees to examine the cores and discuss. This was the first time several DEP staff and the students present saw a drill rig and core in person. LSRPA appreciates these opportunities to collaborate on training efforts with NJDEP. These events are excellent opportunities for your aspiring professionals and NJDEP staff to build better relationships. |
