One of the cornerstones of the LSRPA is education of its members. It is the mission of the LSRPA Continuing Education Committee to develop and administer a comprehensive program that will offer Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) and environmental practitioners educational opportunities conducive to professional development and provide the continuing education credits (CECs) for license renewals. All presentations meet the statutory requirements for continuing education, and make available training directed towards enhancing professional knowledge and performance in furtherance of the protection of human health and the environment.
The LSRPA has developed a robust continuing education program with an extensive variety of technical, regulatory, and ethics courses offered at many venues throughout New Jersey. The instructors are experts in their fields who bring vast knowledge, experience and practical application to each course. The education curriculum includes ten Member Breakfast programs on average each year on various regulatory and technical topics. Each of these breakfast programs (typically 2 LSRP CECs/each) includes a presentation on a topic and 90 minutes open forum roundtable discussion in which each attendee is given an opportunity to identify a critical issue or problem they feel directly impacts the work of site remediation practitioners. The issues/problems are discussed and attendees are encouraged to provide input, share lessons learned, and seek potential solutions. The discussions are extremely effective. And you get a great breakfast too!
In addition to the breakfast programs, throughout each year the LSRPA offers 30-40 continuing education courses on an assortment of relevant and current environmental topics. Networking events are scheduled after many of these courses as an opportunity to meet the instructors, further discuss the topics and socialize with your peers. And last, but most importantly, annually the LSRPA holds its premier 2-day Site Remediation Conference which provides 16 courses for education credit, along with discussions with environmental practitioners and industry leaders. This annual flagship event provides high-value education and training while having fun and enhancing relationships with other industry professionals.
To further enhance continuing education, the LSRPA works closely with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, academic and professional organizations in providing collaborative training events to foster successful educational training and support our fellow colleagues. Also, the LSRPA continuing education courses provide education credits to professional engineers and attorneys. Bringing different practitioners together provides diversity to topics and builds positive and lasting relationships between professionals.
The LSRPA Continuing Education Committee is Chaired by William Call and Co-Chaired by Michael Poland. The Committee continues to grow and strive to bring the best regulatory and technical courses to environmental professionals. This past year, the Committee added the talents of Tina Layre, as Continuing Education Coordinator. Tina is retired from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and brings over 30 years of experience in public administration, regulatory compliance, and government communication and facilitation.
