Description: In this presentation, Aspiring Professionals will receive a brief overview on Excavation Safety.  This interactive session will include general discussion of soil types, types of excavations, some commonly used structural supports, and typical hazards that may be present near or in an excavation. This session will provide helpful information on understanding the hazards associated with excavation for remediation in addition to safety considerations to be considered for protection of workers, structures, and the community. While this session will touch on concepts covered in the OSHA Competent Person for Excavation, Trenching, and Shoring training per 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P, it is not intended to replace that required training and certification.
